Church in Toronto

I went to church today, finally, pretty much haven't gotten around to doing that all summer. Been busy with work. I know that's no excuse bu... Yes I know I need to get my priorities straig.... Yah, I know I said I'd find a church before I even moved here. Yes mother/Jen/God. I know sacrificing sleep for church is a worthwhile investment but I ju... No buts, understood.
Anyway, Calvary Church on Pape street. Heart of greektown, beautiful church (very reminiscent of the old Met with a hint of cathedral thrown in there, check it out you'll see what I mean). I googled AGC churches in toronto and it was pretty much the first one that popped up, stopped by on a sunday afternoon a while back got some literature on it, sound doctrine, good support structures in place for it's congregation, overall nice place.
So, to my story, this morning I get up on time and hop the subway to church (oh yah, it's right across the street from Pape subway station, so awesome). I'm coming up the stairs from the subway to my first service at a new church, trying to open my mind and heart to see if this is the place God wants me to be (also to see if it's a church Jen would like.) And as I step onto the street the first thing I see is this gentlemen walking up to the church with a particuarly long red goatee, very Irish. And here I'm thinking "man, that could only get better if that guy would grow some sick lambchops to go with it." I also start wondering where I've seen that beard before, I knew it was familiar but I wasn't sure why.
It was then that I noticed his wife and two sons walking with him, what was most notable was that all three had long platinum blonde hair. That's when it finally all clicked:
Pastor Joey. Apparently this was his brother's church, and I just happened to go on the day he just happened to be visiting there. Yah, I have connections everywhere. The Met tends to do that for you. In any case, a pretty good Omen to start off with, and then the sermon just happened to be on a topic that fit perfectly into the happenings of my week this week (as sermons are wont to do). Anyway, all in all I think this is the right church. Gotta go, work becons (as it is also wont to do.)

  1. Oh Jamikins!!!
How sweet to hear that you have found a Church and isn't God the coolest ever? Your first Pastor there to usher you into your "first on your own" Church. I'm so excited and so pleased. Your Papa will be so proud of you!!
