Church in Toronto
I went to church today, finally, pretty much haven't gotten around to doing that all summer. Been busy with work. I know that's no excuse bu... Yes I know I need to get my priorities straig.... Yah, I know I said I'd find a church before I even moved here. Yes mother/Jen/God. I know sacrificing sleep for church is a worthwhile investment but I ju... No buts, understood.
Anyway, Calvary Church on Pape street. Heart of greektown, beautiful church (very reminiscent of the old Met with a hint of cathedral thrown in there, check it out you'll see what I mean). I googled AGC churches in toronto and it was pretty much the first one that popped up, stopped by on a sunday afternoon a while back got some literature on it, sound doctrine, good support structures in place for it's congregation, overall nice place.
So, to my story, this morning I get up on time and hop the subway to church (oh yah, it's right across the street from Pape subway station, so awesome). I'm coming up the stairs from the subway to my first service at a new church, trying to open my mind and heart to see if this is the place God wants me to be (also to see if it's a church Jen would like.) And as I step onto the street the first thing I see is this gentlemen walking up to the church with a particuarly long red goatee, very Irish.
And here I'm thinking "man, that could only get better if that guy would grow some sick lambchops to go with it." I also start wondering where I've seen that beard before, I knew it was familiar but I wasn't sure why.
It was then that I noticed his wife and two sons walking with him, what was most notable was that all three had long platinum blonde hair. That's when it finally all clicked:
Pastor Joey. Apparently this was his brother's church, and I just happened to go on the day he just happened to be visiting there. Yah, I have connections everywhere. The Met tends to do that for you. In any case, a pretty good Omen to start off with, and then the sermon just happened to be on a topic that fit perfectly into the happenings of my week this week (as sermons are wont to do). Anyway, all in all I think this is the right church. Gotta go, work becons (as it is also wont to do.)

I forgot I had this thing...
I have a rare spare five minutes and I just remembered I have a blog.
Sooooooo...... ya. What's up? Oh that's cool. Oh not much, workin, you know. Really? Well that sounds like fun. Awesome I will. K. Oh not really I just figured it made sense considering.
Conversing is hard when you're the only one. Oh well, I guess blogging is more for rambling than conversing.
Oh just fyi Jen's mom is having some health troubles again and is now recovering from surgery, so if all y'all could be praying for her that'd be great. And since mom and Jen and Christa are the only people who read this, just keep up the good work I guess.
Puffins! That is all.

A case for Toronto.
Ok, so living here doesn't suck all that much. Sure it's impersonal and huge. Sure you might get lit on fire by Anarchists. Sure people have absolutely no regard for traffic flow. Sure there are more pigeons than deemed holy. But you know... come on.Alright so I'm not making much of a case for it, but I can say one thing. If you ever want anything, and I mean anything, you only have to walk ten minutes. I mean the other day I said "Hmmm... I would like a new telephone." Five minutes later I'm in this shop on Yonge street looking at phones. A lady asked me where she might find vegetarian food. Having no clue where anything non meat related was I scanned my surroundings, pointed vaguely in a direction, and she later thanked me for sending her to the best vegetarian restaurant ever. Luck? I think not. Toronto undominateable will to have easy access to absolutely everything bordering on ridiculousness? I think so!
Also, I do like the fact that I can get literally anywhere by walking down the nearest set of sketchy looking stairs on the sidewalk and getting on a magical train that bears the name of a well known sandwich shop. Seriously the first time I road on Toronto transit I went down there looking for a turkey bacon club. I did not find one. I was dissapointed, yet glad to have discovered a secret underground conveyance. Unfortunately everyone else in toronto seems to have discovered it as well. This creates space issues.
I do, however, like how
you pay for a ride, much easier to take around than Ottawa's ever growing The Tickets, it's like a Toonie and a Loonie had a babie. So cute. And NO RYLAN YOU ONLY USE ONE.Oh also Go Train. MAGICAL, I love it, gets you everywhere you need to be and so cheap. Mega bus is starting to get the idea there too.
So transit they've got going on here.... ya I'll get back to you when I find other things I like. Almost cried when I didn't see any Canada Day fireworks, but I got by because once I looked out my window and I say one explosion reflected off the window of the building accross from me. So I'll count that.
I miss my Jen. That's all I have to say about that.
Yah, when she moves here I think I'll have a stronger case for Toronto.
Here's the plan, I'll just summarize my time here so far.
Day one: I hate this city, how did I even get talked into moving here?
Day seven ish: Ok, this isn't so bad. I can do this.
Day seven and a half: I can't do this I want to go home.
Day 1 month: Ok, getting into the groove here, getting up on time, launching people, making some money. Go start up funds, woo!
Day one month and a half: Bleeding money.
Day two months: Making Money!
Day two months and a half: Bleeding money
Day two months and a half: Ok still bleeding money but starting to feel real good about what I'm building here.
Day after that: HST is in, my office rent just went up to $1700. Dag yo.
Day somewhere around three months: Middle of the push week, I like my team, trimmed some fat from it yesterday and have nineteen people in training. Shaping up to be a money making week.
Later that night: Now. Feel stupid cuz my momm made me write this blog.
